Andhra Pradesh Speeds Up Development of India’s First Quantum Tech Village in Amaravati

In a major step toward building India’s future in advanced technology, the Andhra Pradesh government is speeding up the work on the country’s first-ever Quantum Computing Village. This high-tech project is being planned in Amaravati, the state’s capital region, and is expected to become a global hub for research and innovation in quantum computing.

Earlier this week, a high-level meeting was held at the Andhra Pradesh State Secretariat, where top government officials and tech industry leaders gathered to discuss the project. The meeting was organized under the guidance of the Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS), which plays a key role in monitoring and implementing government projects in the state.

A 50-Acre Quantum Campus in Amaravati

The government has already allocated 50 acres of land for this project in Amaravati. This land will be used to build a large and modern campus that focuses on quantum computing research, development, and training. The main goal is to make Amaravati a central place for scientists, researchers, engineers, and companies who are working in the field of quantum technology.

Unlike regular computing, quantum computing is much faster and more powerful. It can solve complex problems that today’s computers struggle with. Big Industry Players Join Hands

Some of the biggest names in the tech industry are already involved in this project. Companies like IBM, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) attended the meeting and shared their plans. These companies will help with designing, building, and running the infrastructure.

L&T will take the lead in constructing an iconic building for the Quantum Village. This building will house IBM’s latest quantum systems, including the powerful IBM Quantum System Two. This system is among the most advanced in the world and can perform extremely fast and complex calculations.

What’s more impressive is that the campus will be expandable. As quantum technology grows in the future, the facility will have space and support to include newer systems and more companies.

What the Officials Said

Bhaskar Katamneni, the Secretary of RTGS, explained how important this project is, not just for Andhra Pradesh but for all of India. “This Quantum Village will be a world-class facility. It will be India’s gateway to the future of computing,” he said.

He also shared that the campus will have a dedicated data center for high-performance computing. It will be a collaborative space where universities, startups, tech companies, and researchers can work together and share resources.

Pradyumna PS, an IAS officer and Special Secretary, said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has asked all departments to fast-track the work. The CM wants this project to be completed quickly so that India can take a lead in quantum technology.

Global Experts Involved

The meeting also included a presentation by Patryk Gumann, a representative from IBM Quantum, USA. He explained how IBM Quantum System Two works and what kind of technical support is needed to install and run it. He also had discussions with officials from L&T and the Andhra Pradesh government to plan the early setup of the system.

IBM will work closely with TCS to finalize the infrastructure requirements, making sure everything is ready for deployment. Their goal is to set up the first few systems as soon as possible so researchers can start using them.

Why This Matters for India

This is not just another IT park or tech facility. This is a next-generation research centre. If successful, this project will place India on the global quantum map. Countries like the USA, China, and Germany are already working on quantum computing. Now, with Amaravati leading the way, India will also have a strong presence in this futuristic field.
